It's about a kid who goes to school and, in his anger and disgust over being cast aside, shoots two students, who the singer talks about in the chorus. The first is a girl who dreamed of becoming an actress, and the second is a boy who wanted to be an NBA star. The song laments that neither will ever get the chance.
In the end, the singer confesses she wishes she would have "given (the unwanted kid) the time of day/but I turned away," thinking that her kindness might have prevented him from acting in anger.
