Or are they all claiming unemployment benefit?

They don`t do a stroke of work, they are idle good-for -nothings. They just stand in the field and talk to the crows and field mice and the rabbits; and they are the very things they are put there to scare away. As soon as it gets dark, they are off to the nearest barn for a kip and a tumble in the hay with Aunt Sally. It is absolutely immoral and somebody ought to put a stop to the way they carry on. I am appalled at their behaviour, and I`ve told Farmer Giles about it too, but he won`t do anything to stop them. I am now considering reporting them all to Tony Blair! That`ll serve them right!

Yes they do. Many birds do not have the eyesight clarity that us humans have and believe that the scarecrow is a human or another animal form and don't approach the land they protect.

if crows are sitting on it implies either 1 of 2 things:
1)scarecrows do not work
2) need a better scarecrow :)
