Many pens tend to bleed into the leather leaving a fuzzy/blurred look after a couple of days.

i got to Spring Training every year for the past 12 years and i find pens work the best but make sure they do not run, Sharpies are nice but they Fade over a few years....thats no good...i find cheap bic pens work the best

I've always tried to use ballpoint pens for baseballs, though you never know what pen a player might use to sign your ball as they go down the line.

While I cannot speak for Sharpie Fine Tips, I do know that a regular Sharpie will bleed pretty badly over the run, so I'd stay away from them.

Fine tip sharpies. The tip is still soft so the ball does not get scratched, and it doesn't smudge either.
