Been watching masterpieces like Gladiator, Troy & Ocean's 11. But i have been coming across loads of low quality films that either made no sense or a completely crap plot with nothing but a lot of action and loads of cliches.e.g. DOA (despite the fact it's full of 1/2 naked girls), The Island, The Equilibrium

Can you name any other films that are sophisticated, that makes you think, are beautifully made and are bloody good in every sense?

Cheers - film enthusiast

Not quite sure what you mean by similar, but I reckon you are talking about overall quality. So here goes:

1. Memento http://imdb.com/title/tt0209144/
2. The Prestige http://imdb.com/title/tt0482571/
3. Brick http://imdb.com/title/tt0393109/
4. American Beauty http://imdb.com/title/tt0169547/
5. The Sting http://imdb.com/title/tt0070735/
6. Charade http://imdb.com/title/tt0056923/
7. The Green Mile http://imdb.com/title/tt0120689/
8. American History X http://imdb.com/title/tt0120586/
9. The Departed http://imdb.com/title/tt0407887/
10. Blood Diamond http://imdb.com/title/tt0450259/

Enjoy.

1. BRAVEHEART -- If you liked "Gladiator", you'll love "Braveheart", if you haven't seen it (which would surprise me). "Gladiator" to me was a watered-down version of "Braveheart", with no inspriation and worse talent. Also don't waste your time with "The Patriot"; Mel's Scottish freedom story wasn't as good the second time on American soil.

2. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN -- Even if, like me, you aren't a Tom Hanks fan, I thought this was another big movie that made me think about life. "Earn it", as the characters said. It's sobering, as many war movies usually are, but not overly heavy.

3. THE GAME -- I mention "The Game" because it was smart and suspenseful. You might like it if you liked "Ocean's 11". You don't have to be a Micheal Douglas fan to like it.

4. BOURNE IDENTITY & BOURNE SUPREMACY -- Both of Matt Damon's "Bourne" movies were sophisitcated and beautifully made, in my opinion. Also fits the genre of your "Ocean's 11" favorite.

Well, the films you mentioned were all big star/big budget films so I don't think my list is in the same category but they're still movies that I've seen several times and never get tired of.
Derailed
Fight Club
Shattered
The Illusionist
Switchback
The Rich Man's Wife
The Long Kiss Goodnight (an action movie, but very good)
Lucky Number Slevin and Running Scared aren't bad either.

I have some suggestions if you are into any genre of film and motion picture. The Red Violin grabbed me because of the storyline. The Animatrix was revealing in a sense that it started everything about what the "matrix" is. Aeon Flux was also eye popping and provocative.

The Usual Suspects (1995)

A boat has been destroyed, criminals are dead, and the key to this mystery lies with the only survivor and his twisted, convoluted story beginning with five career crooks in a seemingly random police lineup.
