Well, there are more then one speed sensor.
Are you wanting the wheel speed sensor (wss), or vehicle speed sensor (vss)?
Heres a picture of the vss. Its not really clear, but when your under your car, youll see exactly where it is.... just ignore the two loose wires, those are a for a jet ecu.

its a pain in the *** to get too.
the wss is located inside the wheel hub of the front two wheels. Its even more of a pain in the *** to get too. I dont have a picture for this, but when you take off your wheel and caliper, youll see the wires.
Your most common failures will be with the wheel speed sensors. These are known to be poorly built items on tahoes. They normally dont need replaced, just cleaned. (brake cleaner will be fine).
Salt gets into the hubs, which causes rust to form and the wss malfunction.

Scott....are you reading some other question? Assuming the asker is looking for the VSS instead of a front wheel speed sensor, it's far back, on the left side of the trans with a 2-wire plug and held in with a single 10mm bolt on a spring steel clip. It is not a solenoid, not even close.

There is two solenoids on the passenger side of the transmission i can not remember which one it is it may be both of them. To be honest though it is not an easy job you may want to bring it to a transmission shop that has the proper tools to do the job. I tried changing out my seal behind the neutral switch and ended up having to bring it in because I could not get it in for enough.
