I am getting an Outlook Express email account on Windows 98 and I cannot figure out how to do this! Please help me!:

First, I have to enter my outgoing message name (like, what I want my outgoing name to be) and I got that figured out.

Next, I have to type in the email address I wanted. I put;

_____???_____@earthlink.net.

Now, this is what I cannot figure out: What is my INCOMING and OUTCOMING mail server? How do I figure that out!?

You call Earthlink technical support. They have different servers for different parts of the country.

I am not sure about earthlink.net, but Lots of them use this..
in the incoming spot, use -> mail.earthlink.net..for outgoing use->smtp.earthlink.net That's the way I have mine setup with outlook express..Good Luck..

Firstly you need an email account, then search the email host's FAQ for how to set up the account with Outlook Express,

for Earthlink use this URL:

http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?article=4355

And click the relevant links, most probably:

You need to contact the email company or ISP, for example my email address is with Karoo who is my internet provider. My incoming is pop.karoo.co.uk and my outgoing it smtp.karoo.co.uk

You have to ensure that your email provider allows POP3 mail, some ones only allow you to read it through their server.

You first need to make a email adress. I will make one for you if you want (my email is nssbm117@yahoo.com if you want to email me what it should be). I would fill out all the personal information as Random Next i will get you the instructions.

NOTE: YOU CAN NOT MAKE A EMAIL ON OUTLOOK EXPRESS YOU MUST ALLREADY HAVE ONE!!!!!!

Your incoming is the email that you are about to get. and the outGOING email is the email you sent.

Ask your ISP (assumedly it's Earthlink?), they have to tell you what their mail servers are called.
