You're really going to have to expand on this. The climate control in your S320 is one of the most complex automotive systems ever. Without more info, I'd suggest that you start by checking the fuses. Then replace the cabin air filters. I believe there is a procedure in your owners manual for intiating an autocalibration. Check your system voltage...a weak alternator will screw up your climate control before it lights the warning light. If it's more than this, then the computer, vacuum valves, flaps, air sampler, and filtration system are best dealt with by a specialist or Mercedes dealer.

Don't know whether your '99 model runs a monovalve in the heating system that controls the flow of hot coolant to the heater core. They can give trouble on the 1980s W126 series if the coolant wasn't changed regularly. Stuck open or closed. Don't ask me where they are on a 99 model though. Sometimes could be cured by switching the temperature from low to high a few times, or merely by tapping the thing with the handle of a screwdriver.
