My toe got smushed really bad tuesday,, and my toe nail is blue... like bruised and stuff. Well they told me I had to either get a needle and poke through it to get all that blood out, or go to the doctor and have them do it. But, what if I dont get the blood out? What if I just wait until the nail falls off without sticking a needle in there. Will it get infected & theyll have to cut off my toe or will nothing happen. Please be 100% sure when answering this question.

if you dont get the blood out, you will have a subungual hematoma (basically a blood blister under your nail) whether your nail falls off depends on the size...we used to use a cauterizer to burn a small hole in the nail to drain the blood, or a hot needle will sear right through the nail...however, since you did this tuesday, the blood is probably already clotted and wont come out anyways. now what will happen is, as your nail grows, it will push the blood out with it, and eventually the blood blister will grow out with the nail...or your nail will fall off, either of which is no biggie...never heard of an amputation from this.

if you dont get the blood out, it will just be sore and its possible your nail will fall off. but you will NOT get any infection as long as you keep it clean and take care of it. it hurts popping the sore to release the blood but it hurts a lot more letting it heal itself.
