the flower is funnel shaped usually ivory in colour, which blends with the green at the bottom from the stem, it has only one petal folded round and has a wavy pattern on the stop, it has a stigma with the filaments on it, please tell me,, i have the picture of it, but dont know how to upload it here

Yes, it does sound like Calla Lily to me too. The botanical name is Zantedeschia. The common ones are all white. There is also one with some green in it called "Green Goddess".

Calla Lilies like sun to part shade. In SoCal they start putting out leaves in autumn and flower in winter through spring. The die back in summer. Although I have seen some keep their leaves all summer.

could be one of three flowers: calla lily, arum lily, or peace lily. they all have that flower shape and ivory color with a prominent yellow stigma.

Sounds like a calalily....they also come in many other pretty colors like purple and red. The purple ones are my favorite!
