For the next Prime Minister to be a Liberal?
Face it ... a change is as good as a rest. And as it stand Conservatives will probably win the next election anway. They will spend the next 5 years blaming the Labour Party's incompetence. And the merry-go-round keeps moving ...

How many tactical voters would it take to see a liberal as PM?
PS. They used to call it that in the 80's ;-)

Before anyone could answer this question they would first have to calculate how many votes the two major parties would have to lose in protest votes. All insignificant really because the majority of hardcore voters return to their favourite party at general election time. Election outcome is decided by those few who actually listen and take notice of individual party manifesto promises and then vote for who has impressed them most and they feel matches their personal views most closely. It is this small proportion of the electorate who hold the power to elect a government.
The Liberals stand little chance of attracting any of these voters because they never seem to have a concrete manifesto to put forward to them.

There is no such thing as a protest vote. You either vote for one candidate or you don't. That is to say you vote in favour of one not against another. The only way that anybody gets elected is if a majority of votes are cast in his/her favour. So-called protest voting or abstaining gets no-one anywhere and is a misuse of the privilege of voting that was so hard fought in the past.
