I have just installed the mandrina program on my hard drive. When booting up it asks this question. I don't know how to answer it. Any ideas?

it's the command prompt. If you're using the command line, this is where you type stuff, similar to C:/> in DOS.

'bob' is your username, and localhost is the name of the machine you're using. Mine says 'alex@dallas'.

Is this all you see? You should have a graphical desktop (that looks much like Windows). If not, did you do a minimal install?

it's not a question it's a prompt like C:>

it says you've logged in as bob on a machine named localhost.

you can type commands in now.

like
ls
startx
