It seems very appropriate, doesn't it?

If Princess Di gets a version, than Anna Nicole should too. Why? Because:

1) Both Marilyn and Anna were Americans. Di was not.

2) Both Marilyn and Anna were actors and models. Di was not.

3) Anna looked much more like Marilyn than Di.

4) Neither Marilyn nor Anna died in car crashes. (My guess is cause of death for Anna will be eerily similar.)

Anna deserves this. You've gotta admit that.

EVIL SPOON -- Elton did write an original song for Ryan White, not an update of Candle in the Wind. The reason being, only blonde female icons who die in their 30s can get a Candle in the Wind version.

No, at least I hope not! Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana were icons, they were famous for being an actress and a beloved princess, not like Anna who was just famous for being famous. The song says "the candle burned out long before the legend ever did" Marilyn and Diana were legends who will never be forgotten, but now that Anna has died she will fade away quickly. She didn't leave anything to be remembered. I can see why you would think it is appropriate, she was blonde, she died young, she was a popular press subject, but in no way does she deserve the recognition given to Marilyn and Diana. Not to mention, Diana and Marilyn were and still are admired by many, I don't think Anna is someone people admire.

No, it doesn't seem appropriate. Marilyn Monroe was an icon. Princess Di did so much for people worse off than she was and she was also one of Elton John's friends and even then he wasn't going to remake the song until they told him 100% of the proceeds would go to charity. I'm sorry. I feel bad for Anna Nicole Smith, but not every celebrity that dies deserves a song named after them.

That is hilarious. I'll bet he has an updated version recorded already to be played when HE dies. What a shame. He wrote that song originally for Marilyn Monroe. It kind of takes away from the sentiment when you redo it for everyone. If Ryan White and Princess Di mattered so much to him, why didn't he write them a song of their own? Hmm...

Probably not as he has already stated his feelings on the analogy of Anna Nicole to Marilyn Monroe.

No. Simply put he has standards these days. He can't simply write a revision of a classic for every Jane, Bonnie, and Ethel that goes off and dies.
I love the song Candle in the Wind '97, but I hated what it stood for. Dianna was one of the Royal groupies Charles had way back when and he decided to marry her. She was a shameless shop-a-holic, and in the last few years of her life she punched her name up to a few charities and showed up in designer clothes around a couple of impoverished nations for some PR shots b/c she couldn't afford to constantly ravage the racks at Sax Fifth Avenue anymore. She was not a philanthropist or some kind benefactor for the less fortunate, she was f*ck fling for a Prince who easily and seamlessly made the transition from stable-hand to pampered spoiled princess that loved the high life and knew how to throw herself into the spotlight without it being too damaging to her image. that's all

**EDIT**
She did not die in the 30's. That's about when she was born!

You should write one! If I was the daughter I would be starting to get a bit worried the family was cursed. Maybe the old guy put a jinx on her.

No. But he'll probably write a song blaming President Bush for her death.

No. She wasn't in the same league with MM and Di. Sorry, anyone who marries an old millionaire prune for the money and pretends she really loved, naaa!
