Looking back I’m sure I knew at my first year at school (5-6 years old). When I was about 9 I knew for sure, just didn’t know all the words for it. Then when I was 12 years old and hit puberty it was confirmed.
I don’t believe all those guys who say “I only knew when I was 23”. If that’s the case they must be bisexual. Teenage boys masturbate, so if those guys were doing that thinking of men they must have known they were gay. If they were doing it thinking of girls they’re bisexual or at the very least have some sexual feelings for females.

I guess I was between 8 to 10, but I didn't know the words for it. It was really quite innocent, like wanting a cuddle from a man rather than a woman. Dreaming about men being really nice to me, playing games with me. All non-sexual.
In hindsight, I realise that all of this was a pre-cursor to my sexuality. My awakening.

I never, ever played with girls as a boy.....maybe that was an early sign.
I knew for certain when I was 13, then got myself a 24 year-old boyfriend when I was 14, which lasted 8 years and was wonderful in every way.
I guess I grew up rather quickly!

We all should have a healthy attitude about someone who is gay, lesbian,
bi-sexual, etc. And not judge, or condemn, who and what we do not really understand.
I have cut & pasted an answer of mine to you, which I gave to someone who was confused, about his sexual identity. I don't care about receiving 10 points for this, just want to share it with you. This person had posted his question, in the Mental Health section, feeling he was weird, abnormal, for feeling a bit confused.
This was my reply (if you'd like to read this).
Thanks, and have a great weekend.
Love and Accept yourself, no matter what.
And try not to be angry, or bitter toward anyone who isn't like you, or toward anyone who negatively criticizes, judges, or condemn you, if you are gay or bisexual. 85% of the United States are some sort of religion, and condemn homosexuality & homosexuals.
But have a good self-image of yourself, and simply accept you, for who you are - whether you are gay or bisexual, etc or straight.
If you are gay or bisexual, or straight, realize you do not have a sickness or disease. You are Quite Normal. So simply do this - Love and accept yourself, for who you are ! !
I am a minority in this country as one who follows Mahayana Buddhism's Philosophy of Life, as well some of Taoism, & Jesus’ {on forgiving others, and not judging, criticizing or condemning others).
and am misunderstood, and negatively criticized, judged and condemned by many people, but I have discovered a practice, a philosophy of life, which brings me peace, happiness, and purpose for my life.
Just be yourself, without becoming bitter toward others. Your a great person, a very unique, special person, who most definitely has A LOT to offer humanity, and a certain special person in a committed relationship someday.
With Metta { much loving-kindness and friendship).

My partner and I first realised when we were about 6!! You don't know you're gay as such-just that you feel..'different',you can't relate to what other kids say,you don't know what gay is really so can't label yourself, but as puberty starts everything falls into place and you can either get it & deal with it,or deny it and live a lie.

When you've got her head between another woman's legs, and you're enjoying it, you might be a lesbian.
I'm not but my girlfriend is." That line is getting so very old, but still somewhat funny/weird.
