Why are people on CW's shows in high school for like 7 years?

I don't watch shows like Superman or One Tree Hill anymore, but when I happen to flip on it, these characters are still in high school. I remember watching them when I was in high school and now I am graduating college. Just a thought.

They haven't been in High school in Smallville for a long time. But they did stay there for way too long. That's a damn good question, I wish I had a damn good answer.

I can't answer for all shows. As far as Smallville goes, Clark and company are in college now. The show has been pretty good about aging the characters properly, but the creator's rule was "no flights, no tights." They have already had a few flights, sort of, but I don't know what they will do when he is supposed to be Superman -- keep going without the outfit, end the series, or keep going even with the superhero officially out.

I can't stand One Tree Hill for the same reason you said. I stopped watching it.

The main reason shows prefer to slow the aging process on their characters is to keep with the same demographic that is supposed to be watching the show. (Although some shows will age along with their audience, like the Harry Potter books and movies.)

Kinda like that show Beverly Hills 90210 from years ago. A bunch of people in their mid 20s playing high school students. What a laugh!

Well, I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about... In Smallville (x_X Superman...) They are in high school four years... Regular highschool time frame... You may have saw a rerun or something :-P

they aren't one tree hill has only been on for 3 years so they are now seniors in high school
