It says we are sad to be so hooked on all the celebraties and their lives. Too bad global warming, or hmmmm, maybe that war in Iraq couldn't get the peoples attention as Anna Nichole did in death. God bless her and God forgive us . . .

First of all, many if not most of the people of the U.S.A. care about the suffering of others, but they like most people don't care very much anything that is not directly related to them. Second of all, it's the mass media (including the news) that care more about reporting Anna Nicole Smiths death, than the American Military's Deaths. Of course, once they got the order to focus on the American Military's Deaths again, Anna Nicole Smith's death will be forgotten temporary. As you can see, the mass media don't represent the voice of the people, instead it's the voice that want to guide the people. I don't buy the 'they only want to sell stuff and make money' argument, since making profit seem isn't high in their priority, on the other hand getting money from sponsors are high in their priority. The mass media often give depressing things that no one wants, but they still make money? Can you say money laundering? The reason many people talked about Anna Nicole Smith's death is because it's the main course of what some mass media offered. You definetly know something is odd is happening when Steve Irwin was offered a State Funeral by the government of Australia and he was reported in the same level as a politician.

While at the same time 2 former members of the Border Patrol are sitting in Jail for trying to capture a Mexican drug runner. He was shot once in the buttock, and nobody can be certain that the wound came from the agents guns, but strange things happened that landed these 2 agents in prison for 12 years. The government has been actively working to cover up a malicious conviction on false charges. The jury was rigged in my opinion. And the prosecutor for the DHS was caught lying to Congressmen who asked him about the conviction.
But is this story making headlines? Hardly.

I don't think it says that much in itself. She was a very public figure and the announcement of her death is probably newsworthy. If they begin planning to air her funeral on television now that's a bit far. BUT, plenty of other topics in the CNN news suggest that our society is either codependant on the media or at least CNN thinks we are! That can also be said for much of the mass media, I don't mean to just pick on CNN.

It has nothing to do with our already screwed up society. She was a very popular person and of course it will be the top story. It is shocking and people want to know about it.

Total waste of time, don't bother me with the details of her demise. Just hope her kids are now well taken care of.
