Dont be smart and say its something you eat. I was woundering what it was. Like what happened with DaVita and NxStage.

A "stake" refers to one company buying part of another. In the case of DaVita and NxStage (I think the number was $20 million), it means that DaVita bought $20 million of the stock of NxStage.

Like, a stake that you hammer into the ground for a camping tent or something? I don't know what you saw, but besides the meat STEAK, I always though a stake was just a giant nail-looking object that holds down a tent or something.
