Such as if you try so hard to do well on a test can you potential be overanalyzing things? I cannot think of other examples but I think you get the idea.

trying to hard to get what you want makes you a bit blind to other things. if you put all your effort into one thing, you may fail in others.

If you are trying to satisfy anything/ anyone outside yourself, you will never achieve because it is impossible to reach another's goal (we are all different and therefor view success differently). However, if you try to better yourself through challenging yourself to achieve higher goals, you will succeed because there is only one way to go. UP! In other words, the only point of reference is your own current success or position and like walking you can move from point A to B at your own pace.
