Right now, December 11, 2007, I do not personally feel oppressed. However, that doesn't mean I don't see attempts to oppress women almost every day in this forum. Most obvious---or maybe not so obvious---is in the language a few people use when they try to discredit a woman. Instead of attacking her ideas or the quality of her work they attack her looks or her weight. That is a subtle attempt to get women to not speak up. Granted, this type of oppression is pretty low on the list compared to what other women world-wide are facing but it's a strong indication that women are still not accepted as equals. When two guys, for example, are squaring off at each other you never hear one of them call the other one 'fat' or 'ugly?'
