The simple answer is NO. If your operating system is Windows XP then your registry and registration information is based on the hardware configuration of your motherboard and any cards plugged into it.

You need a power supply to run each motherboard.

Your explanation "i need one mother board for certain things and the other one has the ATA connectors for my hard drive" is not very clear. All motherboards have ATA connectors, do you mean SATA? If so, then the motherboard with the SATA connectors should be able to do anything the other motherboard can do.

you could flow away the XP annoyingcontinual with XP on it for now. i'm guessing those are previous parallel ATA drives? first element you will desire to do is verify the irritatingcontinual cable this is addicted to your annoyingcontinual has an accessible slot. If its PATA it is going to likely be the Ribbon cable. verify from the irritatingcontinual to the motherboard if there is yet another slot open on the cable. if so than you could artwork from there. If no longer you will would desire to purchase a sparkling cable. Secondly theres pins on annoying drives which you will desire to go. seem for training on the irritatingcontinual that say usual or grasp, Secondary or Slave. Set the pins on the XPcontinual to Slave/Secondary. And the pins on the normalcontinual to grasp/Secondary if its on cable elect or some thing. once you boot up into abode windows 2000 you could flow the documents you like off the xpcontinual and format it in 2000 in case you elect to launch some area. in any different case in case you flow away XP on there later you could actually pull out the XPcontinual and use it as grasp in case you will desire to.

No you can't. You'd have to have two separate computers built up and share the drives' information between the two computers using a simply peer-to-peer network setup.
