Lately, I find myself being addressed as 'Dude' by twenty-something males, as in 'Scuse me, Dude' when pushing in to buy a pint in the pub. It's friendly and I don't expect them to say 'Excuse me, old boy' but haven't we an English expression left that would fit the bill?

Put and end to "dude" now. I can't tell you how but you have to try before it is too late. Pretty soon the entire world will be talking like they are Sean Penn in Mr. Hand's history class at Ridgemont High.
