I define Random Acts of Kindness as doing something kind for someone else with out expecting anything in return.

your definition sounds a little more like "altruism" or "prosocial behavior" rather than a random act.

for me, I like to make it easy for drivers to get over when they need to, rather than cut them off. I hold open doors for everyone. I pick something up for someone who has dropped something. etc.

Random acts of kindness are not really definable. They are what is done by instinct and way of living.

Try defining them and they become contrived acts carried out because they have been worked out. Random acts of kindness are instinctive and natural to the kind of person who does them and long may it remain so!!

but i'd say a mother's love for her children is a Random Act of kindness she does everything she can for them without expecting anything in return and this is something i would do if i ever happen to be a mother....
other than that i think there is very few ppl who do these acts of kindness without wanting something in return ...even if they do it out of love they may expect some love or thankfulness or respect to be returned to them.....even if they do not want something materialistic they would want something emotional or so ...thats what i think..
