My lil girl was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 19 months old and on 4 insulin shots per day. She is now almost 3 and has been rediagnosed with "Brittle Diabeties" and now needs an insulin pump to control this disease better. The docotor told me I should quit my job and stay home to take care of her. Since November 2005 her father has showed little interest of this disease and has yet to go to the classes to take care of her properly. In August 2006 the Judge awarded me SOLE CUSTODY and cannot see his daughter until completion of anger management classes and other issues. He has yet to help out finacially and I have taken things up with the state for child support enforcement.

You need to go to your Social Security office and check on SSI for your child. If they consider her disabled due to the diabetes, you could get monthly checks to help with no child support. How much they give you is based on how much your income is. As for dad, my child has one of those dads. You are going to have to step up and take full responsibility for your child, if he helps later on, fine, but don't count on it. It can stop just as easy as it starts. These dads eventually pay in very painful ways later on. Years down the road, he will realize he missed out on things that can never be recaptured, a pain you will not feel. There is nothing you can do to make him stand up a be a man.Go forward with what you have to for your child. Child support enforcement have loads of cases they work on and are usually under staffed. I was told the more you call about it, be nice, the more your case gets looked at. If you are getting assistance from the state in any way, they put these child support cases ahead of all others.Keep in close touch with your caseworker on what the next step is and follow up when time is up. This helps to keep you case from dritfing into file somewhere. These dads can do jail time, lose their driver's license or have their wages garnished. It will catch up with him down the line sooner or later. Stand up,do what ya gotta do for your child. It is a hard road but you can do it! Have faith and Good luck!

I know that the child support sure would be nice, but you know there are a lot of state aid programs you might qualify for. Medical care, Food Stamps, I'd even try for Social Security. As to dead beat dads--what shits. They have all the fun and then when the going gets tough they get going--away. There are all too many of them anymore. They don't ever get that who they are really hurting is the child, not you. You are suffering, but you are so much better without him and let support enforcement deal with him.

Dead beat dads disgust me. Keep raising your child and don't worry about his completion of any classes. You and your daughter don't need him if he has such little interest in his child who has a disease.
