Do not buy a pleco. Plecos grow to 18"+ and will not each the cloudiness in the water.
Do not use clarifying products. They are not very effective and they have unpleasant side effects - plus, once they wear off, the cloudiness may come back. You need to fix the cause of the problem.
Cloudiness in your water is caused by a bacterial bloom, which means that you are overstocking and/or overfeeding and/or not cleaning enough, which means that too much nutrients (food, poop) is getting into the water, and the bacteria populations are out of control.
The first step is to do a water change, and vacuum the water, about 50% is enough. Keep doing 50% change per week until the cloudiness is gone, then go to 30% a week.
Then, reduce feeding. Fish have very small stomachs and very big appetites. Only feed what your fish can eat in 30-40 seconds, twice a day.
And then make sure your tank is not overstocked. Research your fish to ensure that they fit in a 10 gallon tank and that you don't have too many of them. Do not go by what the petstore clerks tell you - they are often wrong.

Stay away from all the chemicals that claim to clean the water or clean a tank! All of that is junk that will usually do far more harm than good.

To get rid of the cloudiness, change about 50-60% of the water and clean out the filter. Then every 2 days for a week change 50% of the water. Be sure you clean the gravel with a gravel vacuum when you change the water.

To keep it clean, don't over feed, change 25% of the water once a week, clean the gravel when you change the water and clean the filter at the same time.

That will certainly do it :)

Change as much as you can. Test the water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. These are toxins that build up in the water. Sometimes the tank gets cloudy due to these chemicals. They can also kill the fish. Look up articles on nitrogen cycling.

A pleco gets 2-3'. Much too big for a 10 gallon. The poster before this had bad advice. Waste control doesn't fix the cause of your problems.

Just went thru that same thing. I used a product called 'Waste Control', and bought an algae eater. I removed about 1/3 of the water, replaced it with treated fresh water, vacuumed/siphoned the gravel and things are going well. The smell has even gone away and I can see the photo image on the back of my tank through the water. Also feed them less. My brother shows fish and is hired to set up and maintain fish tanks. This is his advice and it's worked great for me. Good luck!

You should already have a filter in your tank. But, if you don't then there are several products that you can use to "clear" up the problem.

You should definitely clean it. Your fish can die from all those germs.
