And if so, If I hook up an old computer to a new computer, will it make it faster or slower?

What do you mean by hook together. You can network them so that they can access data from each other. you can purchase special cables to allow them to connect via Network, parrallel, serial, or even USb. However they are not going to increase or decrease the speed of each other if there is no activity between them going on. So there is several options for connecting them together but no they wont work together to make one another faster. But yes it will be slower if you are copying data from one to another and trying to do something else too as you are limited by the speed of the slowest compute for data transfer

Yes, you can hook two computres together. This is called a network. To do this, you would most likely need a router. I don't think it would make it slower.
