When I was thirteen I had the same problem. My parents thought I needed to go to bed so early because I slept in so late on the weekends( they didn't know I was staying up late on the weekends.) Once I started waking up at a reasonable time without being crabby my "bedtime" was pushed back. If all else fails try to compromise by getting in your pajamas by 9:00 and express the importance of your needing to watch the 9:00 news. Say that it's important for you to know what is happening in the world around. If that fails, claim it's for a social studies or current event class.

there is no normal time for a teenager to go to bed. im 18 and i go to bed anywhere between 9pm to 4 in the morning. it just depends on what i do during the day and how tired i am. as long as you do good in school your bedtime shouldnt really matter. if your mom freaks just cause your 1 minute late for bed then yea i think shes over reacting some. but its still a good thing to listen to your mom.

yes, I think she's overreacting. I'm 15 and my parents always just let me go to sleep whenever I got tired, which is usually around 11. once you're in high school, though, the homework-load will increase and you'll probably NEED to go to sleep a bit late--at least later than 9! plus, I read this thing about a study that said teenagers fall asleep later and sleep more than any other age group. google it and show it to your mom. haha

Suck it up! I had the 9 pm curfew too but it changed to 10pm in high school, Woo HOO! It wasnt till I was a Junior that I was given free range as long as I was home and in my room watching T.V or secretly talking to my girlfriend (no calls after 10pm) who I married.
