I'd like to wear more fashionable clothes, but my parents don't want to pay $70 for a pair of jeans at Abercrombie, so I'm going shopping at Plato's Closet tomorrow. We aren't poor, but it's outrageous to pay that much for clothes. So... I thought going to Plato's Closet might be a good alternative, but is it socially unacceptable to buy used clothes? Don't give me the crap about "it doesn't matter what you're wearing, and your true friends won't care." It's not my true friends I want to impress... I want to know honestly. Is it dorky to shop at Plato's Closet?

No!!!
When you get to be my age (26, ahem), you get excited about bargains, because you have to buy all your own clothes yourself.
I look for deals, sales, and buy in consignment stores and thrift stores, but I also buy at regular stores too.
Noone will know that you got it for 50 dollars cheaper, and you can spend the extra money on more clothes!
Only dorks spend full price.

HECK NO! I love that place. It has everything you could ever want for over 50% off of the original, ridiculously high prices. Besides--no one has to know you shop at Plato's Closet unless you TELL people.

Its not dorky cause everyone loves a deal, but what if you buy something that like one of your friends sold there that would be pretty embarassing wouldnt it? The clothes they accept are all in great shape though.

i think we have similar problems...
1. we love to shop and love the brand name clothes
2. are parents are cheep and wont buy us the things we want
i have gone there a few times, and i have actually found some nice stuff. You can even take your old stuff and you will get money for it. If your like me, you will actually love it! It beets spending 100+ dollars on a pair of jeans from abercrombie!

not at all.
just don't say anything to your friends and get some stuff that is in right now so it will look like you just bought it.
also, all you have to do is wash them very well before you wear them.
Hope you find some great outfits!

Okay no one will know you got it from there unless you tell them, So dont, telll them you ordered your things off the internet or something. I've never shopped there so I dont know if it is good or not.
I think that the fact that you actually asked was it "dorky" makes you dorky
