Id like to know your opinions from actual working electricians.
What pays better,,,residential or commercial?
In residential, with your license, how much does it take to go into business for yourself?
What are the odds of getting hired by a automobile plant?
In automobile plants, do GM and ford electricians make more than a toyota or nissan electrician?

Residential electricians have a career path that is almost unlimited. Commercial electricians get paid better, but hit a ceiling sooner.

AS a residential electrician, you can get paid well if you remember that electricity is only part of the business. There is a lot of business development that an electrician has to learn. In the beginning, the service man needs to learn to deal with Electrical Contractors, then there is customers, then there is business development (advertising).

Residential:
More money per job
Less jobs however
Not secured

Commercial
Less money per job
More jobs however
More secure

It's easier and safter to be working for someone else, especialy for the first 5 years. After that, you could try starting something on your own, but it depends on the area.

I have no clue Why you would want to work in an automobile plant, but if you did want to, it shouldn't be too hard.

Nissan Pays more than toyota.
