I like Aquarians. They're brilliant, in more than one way, even (Uranus, Aquarius' ruler, is represented as the planet for 'higher learning') fantastic mad people!
(needless to say I've dated several - only one of them was exactly how I described, the other had loads of pisces and capricorn influence and felt too fecking sorry for himself...)
But, as an Aquarius, you SHOULD know that there isn't a thing such as soul mates. You will find someone and spend the rest of your life with them, but by no means is it your soulmate - that's new age shite. I believe in reincarnation and that you meet the same souls in every life, but you end up marrying another soul every life. The rest of the world is your soul mate, if you really want to believe in it, every last person here on earth and anywhere else is your soulmate.
as for number 2. The text books would scream DO NOT DO IT!!! The typical Aquarius is fond of their freedom, and doesn't want to be tied down by anything earthly. The typical Cancer is very clingy and posessive by nature. Two opposites.
However, I've seen the f Aquarius-m Cancer combo work before, and as I keep on repeating, it's not just the 'star' signs (or in other words, the sun signs) that are important. In fact, most of the time they don't even matter at all!
My advice there to you would be the same as it would be to anyone; step into the deep end. If it doesn't work out, you'll know.

1.) I’m Aries, and I'm with an Aquarius!! We’ve been together since the very first day we met. It’s been a little over three years now. As you can see from my experience, I think Aries are a very good candidate for Aquarius.
2.) I don’t have a lot of experience with Cancer, so I looked up the capability of these two signs. It states that a lot of understanding is needed to make this relationship work. Aquarians are naturally open and those under the sign Cancer are a little more reserved. Cancer tends to be conservative, as Aquarians are usually the opposite. Aquarians need independence, and that might be hard for a Cancer.
I hope this isn't discouraging. If it’s true love, it can make it through anything.

No offense, but so far, from experience, they are not very nice. They are thoughtful, but not nice in general. There's a difference. They have witty comments or can be aloof at times. I have an aunt who is this and I liked a boy in the 7th grade, but then I was way too shy to do anything about it. I'm Aries. But I also don't want to believe too much into these things because my mom is an Aries and she's been married to a Libra for 30 years. Dec. 4, 1976.

Best Friend Bets: Sagittarius, Aries
Aquarians and Cancer forget it
I like Aquarians, there brilliant and always looking for a cause to help and solve. They are hard to get to know because they rarely let people in.
They can be eccentric and alouf and very independant. But they are loyal friends and have a big heart

I am an aqua and I think I have found my soul mate with a cancer. He is fun and loving and romantic and seems to compliment all my traits. I require the constant one on one attn and he gives it to me, but also respects that I am my own person and doesn't try to change me. I love that about him.

Aquarius is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Aquarius. Under the tropical zodiac, Aquarius is occupied by the Sun from January 20 to February 19, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from February 13 to March 14.
In some cosmologies, Aquarius is associated with the classical element Air, and thus called an Air Sign (with Libra and Gemini). It is also one of the four Fixed signs (along with Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus). Its polar opposite is Leo. It is the domicile of Saturn (since its discovery Uranus has been considered Aquarius' ruling or co-ruling planet by many modern astrologers). Each astrological sign is assigned a part of the body, viewed as the seat of its power. Aquarius rules the circulatory system as well as the ankles. The symbol for Aquarius is the water bearer.
Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the Zodiac and associated with future ideas and the unusual. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a creative, challenging, entertaining, progressive, stimulating, and independent character, but one which is also prone to rebelliousness, coldness, erraticism, cowardice, and impracticality. In terms of anatomy, Aquarius is said to rule the legs from knees to ankles and the circulation of blood. In terms of geography Aquarius is linked with Greece, Sweden, Canada, Ethiopia and Poland.
Physically, individuals born under the sign of Aquarius supposedly tend to have a vague expression, finely chiseled features and a slender figure. The males are often said to tend to be effeminate in appearance and the females somewhat broad-shouldered and masculine.
Aquarius is traditionally thought be ruled by the planet Saturn, but in more recent years many astrologers have labelled Uranus as the ruler or co-ruler of Aquarius, attributing the erraticism associated with the Sign to the planet's influence.
In mythology Aquarius is often associated with the mythological figure of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, from the Greek myth of the Trojan War. Aquarius is also associated with the Greco-Roman god Uranus/Caelus and sometimes the god Cronus/Saturn.
Cancer is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Cancer. Under the tropical zodiac, Cancer is occupied by the Sun from June 21 to July 22 and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from July 21 to August 9. The sign opposite to Cancer is Capricorn.
Cancer is the fourth sign of the Zodiac and associated with family and domesticity. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a kind, emotional, romantic, imaginative, sympathetic, nurturing, and intuitive character, but one which is also prone to changeability, moodiness, hypersensitivity, depression, and clinginess. In terms of anatomy, Cancer is said to rule the breasts, epigastric region, elbows, stomach, digestive organs, upper lobe of the liver, thoracic duct, pancreas, blood serum, and the womb. In terms of geography Cancer is linked with New Zealand, the Netherlands, Scotland, Africa, and Italy.
Physically, individuals born under the sign of Cancer supposedly tend to have smallish shoulders, small feet, slender limbs, modest curves, (if female) thin light hair, bright 'trusting,' eyes, small fingers, a round face, a broad forehead. They are thought to be of very variable height.
In the past, Cancer was considered an unfortunate but fruitful sign, strongly associated with tribes, clans, and closely-knit family groups.
In mythology Cancer is often associated with the Greek myth of the Lernaean Hydra, one of The Twelve Labours of Herakles and the mythical figure of Perseus, from the Greek myth of Medusa. Cancer is also associated with the Greco-Roman goddess Selene/Luna and sometimes the goddesses Artemis/Diana and Hecate/Trivia.
