One guy suggested a better basketball video. Don't buy it it's crap everything you probably know already. Waste of money and then once you will see them they will cause you to change your stroke and everything you learned before. the best thing for me was going to Google.com and type in Michel Jordan Fundamentals he has like 50 short videos that are free and actually help you. Don't waste money but if you have enough than buy Magic Fundamentals DVD instead of Better Basketball.

I can't suggest any since I never had any formal, textbook training until I got to highschool and by then it was too late and I already had my way of doing things.

It did me a better than copying the exact routines and styles that the pros had. Once you develop your own identity in basketball, only then will you be a true basketball player. Don't do as the fancy videos and expensive coaches tell you to. Textbook basketball makes great players during practice and show but these players lack an identity which seperates them from the rest. With that being said, I'm not against formal training, however you should have your own style of play regarless. Good luck.

For basketball, there are two actions. One is speed at moving the ball forward, and shooting. Those two need at least
10 years, as in the pros, to get mastery. For a youngster 5
years practice is only 200 days, all afternoon away. Even once
a week full 2-4 hour practice. Hold the ball to shoot where you
feel comfortable it is do able. Smaller girls, much higher, and
taller girls much lower.

I recommend the "Better Basketball" training videos offered at www.betterbasketball.com. Their videos are concise and break down everything from shooting and dribbling to defense.
