If I'm walking down the street, all the safety precautions I could possibly take aren't gong to stop me from getting in an accident if it's destined; nor all my recklessness and irresponsibility isn't going to hasten the accident if it's not my time for it. The difference between those two extremes is DESTINY.

For example, consider for a moment that it wasn't our destiny to get attacked on 9/11 but maybe there was nothing we could do as a country to prevent and protect ourselves as a people from getting GEORGE W BUSH as president? Maybe our destiny was and IS to be totally ruined as a country and we'll have GEORGE W BUSH to thank for our destiny.

Now, THAT'S a horrible thought.

A distorted world view advocated by many religions...the idea that there's order in the Universe from the milli-second after the Big Bang to the reason why you place one foot in front of the other as you go for a walk this afternoon....a totally senseless and irrational way of thinking.

Your destiny is that which you make it. God doesn't bring you to earth to fullfill what he mandates, but what you wish to do with your life. So in essense, "your destiny" is another way of saying "your choices"

Take one day at a time. Go with the flow unless you can do better and know it!
You never know until you try what your capabilities are.
