1) Prejudice isn't fair to anyone. I know I hate it when people pre-judge me, particularly if it's negative. And to be quite honest, most prejudices are negative (i.e. all black people are lazy because you have a black friend who's lazy, rather than all are hard-working because you know someone who's hardworking). It just seems like we make negative prejudices.
2) Most prejudices, I think, are based off of stereotypes than than one's personal learned experience. If it was off the later, it would be understandable (I mean, you don't know otherwise, right?), but most people fall back to unfair media stereotypes for their prejudices.
3) Most people who are prejudiced, it seems, continue their prejudices past evidence that proves their prejudices wrong. Most often, prejudices leak into racism, sexism, ageism, whatever -ism you can think of.
Hope that makes sense! Prejudice just isn't very good in practice, although I agree that it's a rather neutral approach in theory.

Prejudice is bad because it is a pre- conceived idea about a person or group of people that can cause a person or group to be overlooked and uncut. Yes we all make judgements of people sometimes before we know them, but is a whole other thing when that pre-conceived judgement causes a person to be overlooked or ruled out based on a judgement made before you have a chance to present the real you. Like if a manager looked at two applicants resumes and one read Dean Jacobs and the other said Kamal Jones and both have the same qualifications, but Kamal Jones was disqualified strictly because his name was too "ethnic", that would be one instance when prejudice is a bad thing. I hope that helped. All the best.

Yes. 10 people turn up to try out for the team. 7 are black, 3 are white. Do you send the (6' 7") whites away and automatically put the (5' 2") blacks in? Only an idiot would do so.
Prejudice can mean you are missing ability and talent.
