Not really snowflakes -- it's small drops of ice.
The link below shows what happens at -45 F.

I believe you cant by throwing the water. It would only freeze in a mass that would be similar to snow but more fractured and icylike than snow. but you could possibly use a fan to create a wind chill factor that might make snow from the steam created by the boiling water. Im not truly sure though. Interesting question and well worth a try. Anyone from Minnesota willing to try this one?

First of all 100% humidity that is all you get!
Theoretically it is possible however you must force molecules together fast to form very large molecular crystals called snowflakes. Instead of boiling water use compressed air mixed with water and you can make snow!

If you throw a cup or so of it into the air it will produce snowflakes... I did it off of my apartment balcony ( I live in Saskatchewan Canada) when it was -35C with a windchill and it froze a mid sized pot by the time it settled to the ground. THat was from 6 stories, it was pretty cool....

If you were able to disperse the water into fine enough particles they might form little ice particles but they would probably not form "snowflakes". It's difficult to actually make the typical flakes we all know so well. Even at ski resorts where they make snow.. what they typically get are tiny ice balls.

No -- you would need to disperse the droplets into tiny, tiny particles to have them reappear as snow -- like a snow making machine does it. And I think boiling water may be too hot, anyway.

The water will freeze, but it won't necessarily turn into snowflakes.

Yes, it is awesome, I saw it done in Canda where it really gets cold. Last time I was there, a polar bear stole my blanket! Luckily I was able to take it back when she fell asleep....
