It means nothing. Cervical checks are USELESS unless you are in active labor. You don't even need to consent to the exam if you don't want to. It's just another way that doctors try to "manage" your pregnacy, labor and birth.
You could walk around for a week or more 100% effaced and 3-4 cm dilated. (I did!) Or you could be closed up tight as a bank vault and give birth a few hours later.
Many midwives don't do cervical checks prior to mom going into active labor. Some don't even do them in labor!
Yes, you can go into a pool or take a bath right up until your water breaks.

When I had my first two appts. where they checked for dilation, I wasn't dilated at all. Most people are dialated to 1 for awhile, so you should still have some time. Yes, you can still get into a pool. Studies have proven that water can only be forced into the vagina like if you're jumping in or doing a cannonball. Both of which I highly doubt you'll be doing while 9 months pregnant.
Good Luck and Congratulations on your marriage and the baby.

I was dialated to 1 and 50% effaced at 36 weeks, dialated to 2 and 100% effaced at 37 weeks, and then had the baby a week later at 38 weeks.

If you are dialated it will more then likely only be a one or two. No this does not mean that labor will start soon but it can. Discuss with you doc that you are getting married in a few days and let them give you a list of do's and don'ts. Congradulations on your little one and your marriage.

You can be 1cm dialated forever (ok, not forever, but for days or even weeks). You don't really feel anything when you're only 1cm.
I wouldn't think there is a problem with a pool, as long as your water is not broken, the baby is still protected in you.

If you are dilatated 1 or 2cm labor could start anytime but it could also be a few weeks. Then the doctor will tell you not to lift anything heavy or not do any effort (which is valuable advice anyhow), but for swimming, I think it is still ok. Have a nice end of pregnancy and a beautiful wedding!
