I am only 14 years old. My back has been hurting a lot lately. Especially my spine. So i had my mother take a look at it and she noticed that several of my vertebrea(sp?) were severly swollen and inflamed. I could even feel it myself when i ran my finger down my spine. It is very painful and sore. Could this be something serious? Its been 2 weeks and it hasnt gone away, infact, it has become worse.

um yeah I'm surprised you haven't seen a doctor. I know nothing about health and conditions or what have you, bnut this sounds pretty bad. Even if it isn't really bad, there is something wrong. Get to the doctor as soon as possible. I'm sure there's a way to treat it. Good luck!

could inflammation of vertebrae that has been there for 2 weeks and gotten worse be serious. does this really deserve an answer? um, no, it's not serious if your vertebrae swell up and pinch the spinal cord and cause paralysis. nah, that's not serious at all. don't worry. walk it off, you'll be fine. i heard some pain killers reduce swelling, look into that.

seriously...go see a doc ASAP! can't believe u waited 2 weeks and then went to yahoo answers for advice. some people just do not take their health seriously at all.........

You should ask your Mom to take you to the Doctor, and get this seen about very soon. That's not normal for a kid your age to have such complaints,or have swelling and pain around your vertebrae etc. Take care. SW RNP
