Disney doesn't allow you to place them to the side of the attraction like some parks (a liability issue). They ask that you put personal items at your feet. Some rides have a pouch in front of you (like Indianna Jones) to put your items.
If you bag is huge, you might consider getting a locker at Main Street and just carrying your wallet and camera with you.
But if it is a basic, regular-sized back pack, you should be fine. When my husband and I go, we bring a back pack and we take it on everything.

Most rides in Disney parks do not have the same entrance as the exit, like most rides in say... Six Flags do. So you either must bring them on the ride or put them in a locker for the day. Or, leave it in the car.

If i am correct, then most theme parks have lockers that you can rent out for the whole day, which you can store your bags/backpacks/extra clothes etc. They are usually in multiple areas for convenience, so you can map your way out and find the one that will work best for you.

You either bring them onto the ride with you, or you find a locker for your stuff. Or if you have a stroller, you could just leave your stuff in the stroller in the "stroller parking" areas at the entrance of the attractions.

If it is not unreasonably huge, you can put it between your feet. None of the rides are wild enough where you might lose your things, just hold on to it.

Either you put in in a locker or you bring it on with you when you go on the ride.

At my feet usually - there are many ways to secure it - depending on the ride.

when you enter the parks there are lockers you can rent for the day but its a pain if you want something and you are at the other side of the park.
