Males have colors and females are just plain Grey. Males will develop their colors as they get older so when they are young, they will all look the same. Females also will get larger than the males.

NOT by color. Males have an external sex organ. The anal "fin" is a small tube that lays flat against the belly, while the females have normal round anal fins.
If you go by color you will mistake some males for females. Some males don't get the genes for fancy colorful tails. If you leave them with the females by accident, the colorless males will be the ones reproducing and you will have litters of boring guppies.

Look on the underside of the fish. The fin that is just ahead of the tail (the anal fin) on a female is fanned out.

On a male is looks as if it is a spike, even to the point of laying right up against the fishes body.

This works for all the live bearers, guppies, platties, mollies, moons, etc.

Males have a long sharp fin under their belly, as a female doesn't. Males are always the ones with all the pretty colors and beautiful tails, females are plain and not very pretty to look at. Hope this helps.

when they're little babies, there's really no way of telling. males will usually start to get their color first. in some males, their color starts out as a dark spot on their back fin. the best way to tell is to just wait until they're grown up a little more.

You will have to wait until they are bigger.
Males will have the fins are more silky looking (longer and wavy) with an extra one on the belly. A female will look more modest.
