Dreyfus was a French army officer, at the time the only Jewish one.

An espionage case was falsely put on his shoulders and a wave of anti-semite sentiment forced a guilty verdict and he was exiled to a French colony. Only years later was he exonerated.

The Dreyfus affair was actually a political standoff between two warring tribes in the Congo in Africa. It is not commonly known as the Dreyfus area on maps, but the locals refer to the grassy area immediately adjacent to the rainforest here as the Dreyfus area, and in early 1981, there were two tribes, one who inhabited this area more than the other. During this time, the two factions were in a standoff that resulted in the loss of two cows, one on each side. It is not widely known what started the action to promote the hostility, but the government came in and provided the mediation necessary for the conflict to end. Afterwards, it is mainly the media covering the event that started referring to it as the Dreyfus affair.
