Hi, I'm a female in my mid-20's and I've been having a hard time making a career decision. I have a good idea of some of the things I'd ideally like to have in a job (variety, opportunity for some creativity, fairly quiet environment, being able to work independently or one-on-one), but am still unsure. I'd also like to stay away from overly technical or business type work.

I have a BA in English and enjoy writing, but I also understand how difficult it is to write as a main job. I also have considered animal-related work (my biggest passion), but am having trouble finding opportunities outside of vet's offices. I almost began a program in library science, but am concerned about how technical the field is becoming as well as the poor job market in the Chicago area.

Currently I am working in general office at a college and while I enjoy working at a school, the routine work is seriously boring me. Any advice? (Serious answers only, please!) Thanks very much!

Strangely enough INFP's make very good public speakers, CEO's and attorney's. They also make excellent teachers.

It has to do with where your energy comes from. You derive energy from within but you have a fantastic ability to lead and motivate others with proper guidance and training.

Oh yes, I forgot the most common job for INFP's: Actor.

Yes, many many actors are INFP's.

So, get out there and knock'em dead kid!

Stretch your personality with some growth experiences.
Contact LIfe Success Seminars (513-793-0077), or similar personal growth groups closer to you if you can find them. You can move your I in the direction of E and broaden your choices.
Take an interests inventory test and get some career counseling. Many colleges - counseling centers offer this service.

Have you considered going to work as a book editor? Most of them are located in big cities like New York or San Francisco. If you are seriously interested, you should try for an internship.

Ok, so we know a few things

- You hate computers and technology
- You hate business functions
- You dont really want to make any use of your English degree
- You dont want to be in a group
- You want to be employable

Almost every single job that works in quiet and independently, has something to do with business or technology (accountant, computer programmer). Almost every job that is "creative", also is not employable (artist, writer).

The only job I can think of that meets all your criteria is night janitor. You dont have to deal with technology, business, groups of people or loud distractions, and youll always be employable.
