My car heater does not get quite as hot as it used to. Do I need a new core?

So how do I check to see if it's the themostat?

for all they cost just put a new thermostat in it.thats what i would do first.then see if you got heat,if not then give the cooling system a good cleaning out.

If your running around in very cold weather (below freezing), you can use an old trucker's trick. Get some cardboard and block off a portion of your radiator. You should be able to do this without any concern to your engine, you have extra cooling capacity in the winter time.

most prob thethermosat on the engine is stuck open so nt letting the engine get as hot as it should checke
the temp guage on the dash to check for certain

check your thermostat first, its a lot cheaper to replace than a heater core
