At about 10 weeks my doctor did an ultrasound and diagnosed my pregnancy as non-viable. I was offered a D&C, but chose expectant management. After waiting 2 weeks, the bleeding began. I bleed an extremely heavy rush of blood and clots, feeling as if I faint for 4 hours the first night. I passed tons of large clots and blood, that I could not even wear a pad. After this, I bled a medium amount for 2 days. Then I had severe labor like cramps and pains, so bad I could not stand it. My husband called the doctor and they said to take 800 MG Motrin. After about 2 hours, the cramping went away and more clots passed. The next day, the labor cramping started again for another 2 hours, after which more bleeding came. The bleeding continued for a medium amount for another 5 days. Last night (day 8) I passed more large clots and bled quite heavy. Today, (day 9) the bleeding has almost quit. Is it finally over, or will continue for a longer time? Is this normal?

Sorry to hear about your loss it is a rather painful experience. But what you are experiencing is very normal. It can last for a few more weeks. Relax and take it easy and of course if you think that anything is just not quite right by all means call your doctor they will understand.

What are the Warning signs of Miscarriage:
If you experience any or all of these symptoms, it is important to contact your doctor or a medical facility to evaluate if you could be having a miscarriage:

Mild to severe back pain (often worse than normal menstrual cramps)
Weight loss
White-pink mucus
True contractions (very painful happening every 5-20 minutes)
Brown or bright red bleeding with or without cramps (20-30% of all pregnancies can experience some bleeding in early pregnancy, with about 50% of those resulting in normal pregnancies)
Tissue with clot like material passing from the vagina
Sudden decrease in signs of pregnancy

The main goal of treatment during or after a miscarriage is to prevent hemorrhaging and/or infection. The earlier you are in the pregnancy, the more likely that your body will expel all the fetal tissue by itself and will not require further medical procedures. If the body does not expel all the tissue, the most common procedure performed to stop bleeding and prevent infection is a dilation and curettage, known as a D&C. Drugs may be prescribed to help control bleeding after the D&C is performed. Bleeding should be monitored closely once you are at home; if you notice an increase in bleeding or the onset of chills or fever, it is best to call your physician immediately
I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Hopefully it is over.

i had a miscarriage about 4 weeks ago.. i started bleeding very lightly. and so i called my doc.. she said that to just hang in there that it sometime happens to pregnant women.. and nothing bad happens. but however the next day the bleeding became worse and i felt as if i were in labor. this being my second pregnancy.. i passed only one clot but it was a very large one.. after that my pain was going .. i bleed for about a week and a half. as if i was on my period.. .....so i would say that you need to go to the doc.. even if the bleeding has stop or even slowed down.. have her do another ultrasound just to make sure everything is ok,.

I had a miscarrage at the end of last year.. I bled really really heavily for about 3 days. After that it was lighter and about a week and a half later I stopped bleeding. It's different for everyone, so maybe your body is just having a rougher time getting it all cleared out. Im sorry about your loss. Best Wishes Sweetie.

Yes hun, it is normal, but I personally would have had the D &C, not so much pain and bleeding and it cleans out any bad stuff. I am sorry for your your loss.

It's normal, I would just watch out for fever, chills, or if the contractions come back.

I'm so sorry for your loss, God bless you. We just lost our baby last weekend, after three days of labor she was finally born. It's much harder than regular L&D.

that sounds normal for a miscarriage, either way you will need a check up if they suspect that you havent fully miscarried yourself they will proceed with the D&C so sorry to hear about that. hang in there.
