After my blood was drawn i developed bruising about 0.5--1'' away from where the needle was inserted, but really no bruising right where the needle was inserted. Is this normal?

From the time the needle is inserted to the point at which it is taken out for a blood draw is no more than 2minutes. For a standard set of 6 tubes of blood and even blood cultures, which require significantly more blood it should not take very long. Of course things can go wrong, such as the vein in infiltrated, the needle is up against a valve, or the blood simply won't flow, and this will delay the process while you get poked again.

Absolutely! I have blood drawn every week and you would be shocked where I get bruising, but it is normal.

Yes it is normal I get that every time I get my blood drawn. Don't worry about it. It will dissappear in a few weeks or less.

Yes - it just means a little blood leaked under the skin. Not to worry - it'll be gone in a few days.
