i really really want a spotted hyena. it'd be so cool! like having a 4ft 95kg pit bull!

Black market. You'd be surprised what you can get from there. No, I've never used it, however a local Fish and Game officer has seen some crazy stuff. In other words? Wild and game sanctuaries. If you have or expect to become a zoologist(?) you can take in some pretty crazy pets. However, I will tell you that unless you plan on running a protection facility for a species of hyena, no one will legally import one for you. Hyenas wouldn't make very good "pets" in the long run, because their too wild yet and need to be properly domesticated through captive breeding before they become more tolerable by humans. Not saying I support it. Take care.

Of course you can have a hyena. There are many zoos all over the world that allow you to adopt a hyena. They would take care of it but you are allowed to visit it when the zoo is opened.

Hyenas are not available on any legal market.
They will eat anything that is dead or alive, including your children, and they smell like rotting meat. Not a really good pet.

Perhaps you should do a little research on hyenas first. In Africa they kill more people than any other animal. Eats them too. Mean nasty critters. ugly too. both in appearance and disposition
