Which one is the better processor overall?

If you will be running more graphical applications such as movie editing or high end 3D games, then you may want to go with the AMD processor because it has strengths it can offer to aid your video graphics card in your system. The Intel CPU (I personally own one of these) is a great processor as well. Its strong points are mainly shown in business applications while also having the strength and power to further increase the processing power of your video graphics card for games or video applications. This may be confusing; however, as a general rule of thumb, if you're going to be running business applications, then I'd go with the Intel processor. If you're needing strong graphics processing, the I believe the better between the two is the AMD processor.

You could not go wrong with either because both of those are very fast and capable processors, but if I were choosing, I would pick
the AMD Athlon 5000

THe AMD chipset in general is a little faster than that of Intel. But you can't choose solely based on speed. You need to consider all the components you're going to want. Because your processor influences the motherboards that you can get because of compatability restrictions. And the motherboard, in turn, influences just about every component you can get.

For my uses AMD Athlon is faster but only because I don't multitask while gameing. Intel is greatfor everything else.

Very sadly, the intel is....But go for the 4600 duo.... it is very overclockable, with the right parts, up to 83% more power than alone.
