what i mean is that when a player admits he is gay while still playing in their league...will this cause problems in the locker room? to me a male or female admitting homosexuality and being in their sexes locker room is the equivalent to a man being in a woman's locker room. which is not right by any means...yet if we attempt to keep "homos" out the locker rooms or force them to have different times to be within locker than other people... we will end up with more of a mess than needed...what should be done?

i am referring to the idea of how other guys or girls will feel around them...would a room full of nude women feel comfortable around a guy? likely not...so what about a locker room full of men/women knowing that some homosexual is in there...it creates a bit of paranoia...

heterosexual ppl MUST learn that homosexuals do not want to be with a heterosexual person...therefore they should not feel uncomfortable if they have a homosexual in the locker room...theyre not checking them out, ppl who think like that need to grow up and get real

A person being gay isn't a problem. A person admitting they're gay in the middle of a season could cause problems, though. It could cause disturbances in the locker room, be it because the players think being homosexual is disgusting or just because it was shocking. I don't think it would be the best idea to admit you're gay during your career... and if you really want to, it would be better to say right after the season ended to give the players time to let it sink in.

Unfortunately, I think some of the immature players would stay away from that person. Some of the owners might not want the player because he is gay. It is probably best to wait until the end of your career to come out.

I think Amaechi handled it perfectly.

As much as I respect Amaechi for coming out...you know what? I really don't. I don't CARE that he's gay AFTER he ended his career. IT DOESN'T MATTER. IT CHANGES NOTHING. Him coming out to tell his "story" (which will be the same as every person hiding their true selves amongst others for fear of disfavor or resentment) does nothing to change peoples' minds about homosexuality and athletes. If there would be one athlete MAN enough (Sheryl Swoopes already showed ya'll how to do it) to come out while they are STILL playing would be MUCH more "world-changing". It takes more strength and courage to stand and say "I am gay." in the locker room than it is to say in a press conference for your new book.

I used to think the same (concerning locker rooms), but I was a little younger, from a small town, and my mind had not opened fully (BTW, this is not a dig at you or anyone).

Let me tell you about me: I rented an apt when I was in college. Why? I was horrified of group showers-someone looking at me.

In high school I wore my gym shorts under my jeans. Why? because I was horrified of someone looking at me.

Here's the thing: guys and girls need to check their egos. No one cares what you've got. Guys, however, are scared to death their little man is gonna be smaller than the next guy.

I just moved in with a friend I've known since 5th grade. He came out in college. He is no threat to me whatsoever, nor are his friends. They are no more attracted to me, than I'm attracted to them.

BTW, I hear more talk about penis size and comparison at work than I've ever heard from my friend and his friends. And the guys at work are straight (married with kids).

I've matured and I no longer care if someone sees it or not. I just wish I could easily pee in public.....

Yeah they definitely should not be in the same locker room with the rest of the players. Im not saying they shouldnt be gay and play, but they better be ready to be heavily scrutinized in a male dominated setting.

Gays are bad for sports. There is no question about it. If i am a professional NBA player, for example, and i find out that one of my teammates is gay, then we'll still be teammates. But it may be hard for me to play the way i am capable of playing.

Had a hoho in High School football. He ran like a hoho, talked like a hoho, and in the shower, got a woody like a homo.

If you are hetero, are you attracted to all of the opposite sex? Nope!
If you are gay, are you attracted to all of the same sex? Nope!

Ergo, it should make no bloody difference!
