I'm going to a job fair in Arlington Heights, IL next friday... How many copies of my resume should I bring with me?

*nervous* I've never been to a job fair before! Can someone tell me how they work, what you're supposed to do?

I recommend taking at least 25 copies of your resume to the job fair.

It's best to have something to leave behind with potential employers.

Another tip for you is to get the business card of the person you spoke with at the job fair or at least get their name & phone number.

Follow-up your job fair with a thank-you card to the person you spoke with reminding them of you and thanking them for taking the time to speak with you about their organization.

The "squeaky" wheel gets the grease. It's good to stay in contact with the people you meet.

Ask yourself this...is saving a few pennies on fewer copies worth not having a resume ready when one is requested. Bring a ton. There could be more than one person at a booth. Don't be afraid to give a copy to each person there. When you hand it to someone, point out a related item. Let's say it's a health-care firm, as you hand your resume, point out the health care internship or coursework you've experienced.

I say take no fewer than 50.

30 *don't forget a pen/paper to write down notes to remind you who is who and what do they do? Good luck

PS put a star by the ones you REALLY hope to get and call Wendsday after the job fair to see if they remember you...that will put your resume back on top! wink

Ive never handed out more then a couple.

90% of booths at job fairs simply redirect you to their website to fill out an application or submit a resume. The booths arent staffed with any decision makers, or anyone who could possibly let you in the door.

Id say, figure out how many booths there are, and bring about 10% of that number in resumes.

call the job fair and ask how many business will be hiring, and bring a few more than just jobs you are looking for.
