My friend, I felt exactly the same way you did when I was in high school. As a result, I didn't do my homework, didn't get good grades, didn't get into a good college, ended up dropping out, and have had to spend the last 20 years working three times as hard as the guy with the college degree sitting next to me (and he's still making more money than I am). Look at it this way -- there are certain things in life you HAVE to do in order to get the opportunity to do the things you WANT to do. A college degree doesn't guarantee you a good job, but it opens doors. Many employers won't even consider hiring someone who doesn't have a college degree, even if an applicant has years of experience in that particular field. So you have two choices: You can either (a) Do the best you can in school, even if you believe it's pointless, go to college, get a degree, and in all likelihood get a job with decent pay and decent benefits, or (b) You can blow school off, barely get through high school, don't even consider college, and have to slave away for long hours -- and often crazy shifts -- getting paid little more than minimum wage just so you can afford to live in a lousy apartment or trailer, worrying about how you're going to pay your rent and what would happen if you had to go to the doctor with no insurance, and while you're at it you can give up any dreams of taking a nice vacation. School is an investment in your future. The more time and effort you invest now, the better and more pleasant your life will be later. Don't make the same mistake I did. Do your best. Get the good grades. Go to college and get that degree. You can thank me for my sage advice later.

First of all.. you didn't spell the word half correctly. Yes school sucks, and a lot of the details you really will not use later on in life. But i've learned that the more you do learn, the easier any job will be later on in life. Little things that you think will have nothing to do in life will come up at one point or another. Also, the more you learn, the easier it will be to hold a conversation. Educated people are more interested in the world and what is going on. Some of our highest people, the people who change the world, are the most educated. So yes, school does suck, but it will be worth it to get through.... it's just my opinion though.

So that you can be an interesting person and relate to others and the world.

So that you can learn to write and speak well so that people will take you seriously. (It's HALF the stuff not HAVE the stuff).

Not to mention you have to have education to get a job.

Educated women are empowered to make their own choices in life.

While it may not seem like you don't use it in the end, you'd be amazed that you actually do use a lot of it.

i had also had lousy teachers, i am one. if only i had applied myself better to all the useless knowledge, maybe i wouldn´t have ended in a classroom full of kids asking me the same question. school was invented so the masses could be prepared and pick a few skills along the way to work in a factory. that was the perspective back them. now, you are being prepared academically so you could eventually come up with an ambitious idea and put it to work and hire people like yourself to work for a meager salary most of your life and wonder why many doors have been slammed on your nose for not having a degree or at least a diploma. all the useless knowledge being taught to you is with the hope of changing your perspective about the world and yourself or better yet to see what you´re made of when it come to using your brains. school is a great environment to put your skills to work. ( socially- emotionally- academically- and play some politics ) i think some students have hurt your ego in class, and you don´t think you can live up to the challenge they represent, so you way of sneaking out of the ring is throwing the towel and start other students wondering about your question so you can hide among them so you can live guiltless for not doing your duties

It's about discipline and preparation. While you may not need to know all the stuff- it's important to know how to deal with the same situations in life outside of school.
You don't get to choose which of the boss' tasks you want to do- when / if you show up.
It also makes you a much better companion. Knowing and being able to talk about many subjects keeps everyone from getting bored. Learning new stuff is fun- once you know it, it's yours forever. Be blessed.

You may not use everything you learn in school, but school is where you first learn to socialize. It also will help you with responsibility because you go to school 5days a week you do homework, just like in life you work 5 days a week. So it's getting you ready for that. Also people don't like ignorant people, and only ignorant people think school is dumb.

The primary function of a school is a place of learning.Other "point`s" are to develop social skill`s for interacting with other people that will come in very handy later in your life. Trust these word`s: You need school!

its true HALF the stuff we learn in school is uesless, but guess what this is real life and in the real world we need to pass school before we succeed in life. if you think about it school is a lot like life, school we just do it to get throught it and life we just get through it and then die. if you think about it pretty much everything we do is useless in the end, because the end result in life is dying.

the kids in school say they would rather be at work. the kids at work (poverty, or regular work) say they wish they were at school. there are tests where you need to know how to read and write before you do certain stuff. Plus, math is everywhere you need it for science jobs and for giving customers the right amount of change. (that's a mouthful from a 14 yr old, i know ;-D )
