What do you guys think will happen to the highly efficient dvorak keyboard? Its adoption has been incredibly slow and fragmented, yet it seems to be picking up lately (personal observation). Will it ever become the standard layout, or will people reject it in the long-run?

The US has a better chance of adopting the metric system than Dvorak becoming the keyboard standard.

Old habits die hard. I doubt well see that in our lifetimes.

The keyboard was designed using ergonomics. The most frequently used keys being placed for striking with the strongest fingers. Notice that uncommon letters Z and Q are a stretch for the weakest finger (the left pinky) when touch typing. Though it requires memorizing the alphabet in a different sequence, it allows for much more efficient typing.

first people need to know it even exists. you would be surprised how many people dont know that there is more than one keyboard layout. if more people know its out there, more people will become interested and possibly buy into it.
