I can download stuff but apparently you also have to install to get access and i am clueless!

Your question is very vague! Most programs that you can use on your computer start as one file, an installer. Usually it's called setup.exe, or install.exe install.msi or something like that.\

Opening this file starts the installer program which installs a program on your computer. During the time that the installer runs, it will copy multiple files to your computer that come from that single install file (usually). After that, you should be able to use the program.

go to amazon.com and search for "computer for dummies". there seems to be tons of books on the subject so do not worry, you are not alone. :-)

Yep. I got one for my mom for Christmas, when she got her FIRST computer!

I got it a Border's. Any major bookstore will carry it.
