The townhome we lease was recently bought by another person.. We have six months left on our lease. He did not read the dates correctly and thought we would be leaving at the end of this month.. We don't want to move. Does he have to buy us out of our lease?

i hate to say this cbut landlords can get away with alot..so probably not. after your lease is up if he wants you to go you half to go, however he cannot make you leave before your lease is up..[unless your doing somthing illeagle}. but good news...if you feel this is out of revenge he is not renewing you lease, you can file an unfair eviction calim...contact the local rener's rights center..{just look it up, there is one in every state. }. you can tell i've had my problems my landlord is an asshole!!!

Check your lease. many landlords have a clause that protects them from these types of things. normally if the building is being bought your current landlord does not have to honor their lease..it would be up to the new owners if they want to honor the current lease or not.

Your lease has a stipulation that prevents landlords from having to buy tenants out of their leases in the cases of selling their homes. You must move. Thank you.
