its basically a mix between World War II and "animal farm" by george orwell. its about nazi cats versus american dogs. ive been plotting it since i was 14 years old. i mean, nazi kitties vs. dogs? come on, thats a little comedy! (but not really now) there are battles in it, like "all quiet on the western front" by erich maria remarque. its a pretty good story. it has some sad parts but i think its pretty solid. so how can i get it published?

Is this going to be a graphic novel? By that I mean extensively illustrated. Either way the first thing you're going to need to do is find an agent. From what you've described I'd have about 50% of this work completed to show them.

There is a great book out by Noah Lukeman called "The First Five Pages" (see link below). It's about how to get your work infront of an agent, editor or publisher. I'd strongly suggest you get a copy of this.

This idea has already been done -- in part. There was an illustrated book out back in the 80s about "Nazi cats" running a concentration camp with "Jewish mice" locked away. It was heartbreaking and well done.

I try to be as positive in this venue as much as possible, but I don't think this idea is going to fly. I've worked as a writer, editor and publisher and from what you've provided here I can't think of a single house that would be interested in this. Your mix (WWII and "Animal Farm") consists of two vast and sweeping topics; it'll be very hard to draw humor from this; and to add in graphic battle scenes?

Good luck on this though, if you're passionate about the work take what you want from this and dump the rest. --Andy

I wrote two books and self published both. You can go to the net and check with Publishers and or Agents. They will tell you what books they publish and how to send your manuscript. I must tell you though, It is very hard to find either. I sent out manuscripts to many, many publishers and only three answered to the negative. I now know my books are okay because of the over 300 emails I have received from my readers. Even so, the publishers did not see what my readers saw. This is why I went the self publish route. I am doing okay, only because I have the time to do many book signings. (The only way to sell your books.) If you look for a publisher or agent be sure to check (Warnings & Cautions for Writers) There are bad people out there just waiting to steal your $$. If anybody goes the self publish route I will help you for free. barwaynerus@yahoo.com
